What is the Network Engineer doing?
A network engineer is focusing mainly on the technologies and protocols. He must deeply understand how each technology works and how to make it works properly and be familiar with the network devices and the differences between them.
Besides this, he is requested to demonstrate and deliver to the customer the best solution that suits the customer’s environment.
What are the Network Engineer tracks?
Any network engineer can specialize in one or many fields in networking. Each field has its own career and levels of engineering the candidate can go through. All of these fields are required in the market in a different ways.
Engineer can choose among these network tracks and focus to be an expert in one or more tracks.

Network Support Engineer
Network support engineer is responsible for making the network up and running. This requires him to monitor everything in the network and to be aware of what it is going on in his network and to know how to make things up again in case of failures.

How to deal with the network incidents and disaster.

Network implementation engineer is the one who configures a new network/solution and integrate it with the current network (if exists).
He is responsible for configuring and testing the network and make it live.
He should be able to understand the design document and configurations and be able to troubleshoot and solve issues in the configuration.

Network Pre-Sales
Network Presales engineer is a designer with a good soft skills. He designs and presents to the customer the solutions/products of his company. He works very closely with the sales to sell solution and products.
He also need to have the following technical certificates:

CCNP/JNCIS.
Network Architect
Network designer is a senior position which requires many years of experience and wide knowledge. He must have a good knowledge about the technologies and network devices.
Architect answers the question why, instead of how. He should know when we need to use a specific technology instead of the others, the strengths and weakness of each technology. He doesn’t care so much about how the technology works, he knows when, where and why to use it.
Architect works closely with the customer, understands customer’s requirements and design the network accordingly so that he should understand business needs.
He also need to have the following technical certificates:

Network Consultant
Network consultant is a very senior position which needs many years of experience and very strong wide knowledge among all the technologies and network devices.
He should be able to differentiate between the technologies, network devices and vendors and capable of providing the customer the best of bread solution without interrupting the services and maintaining high availability as well.
He also need to have the following technical certificates:’
